Have You Ever Had a Black and White Infomercial Experience?

If you’re capable of reading this, you’ve probably seen at least 3425344532 infomercials in your lifetime. Infomercials drive me crazy, but there is one thing that drives me absolutely nutty: I can’t stand it when infomercials go black and white.

You know what I’m talking about…right before the pitch on how perfect X As Seen on TV product is, they flash the screen to a short, two or three second clip on how some super easy task just can’t be done by anyone. Like this task is some kind of universal pet peeve or something.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch this selected infomercial:

Bam! First bit of the commercial: black and white.

Seriously, brownies taste the same if they’re square, round, jagged or all curled up in a ball like those little bits that stick to the spatula.

I will admit that I have a special place in my heart for the brownies around the edge of the pan. And just as this commercial says, everyone else does too! Another black and white scene at roughly :45 into the video.

Notice also how dirty the pan is in the opening scene, then how the same hand that was capable of pouring the mix into their product wasn’t capable of doing it in the scene a few seconds before. Oh, and the second black and white scene? Main “mom” character wearing the same yellow shirt. For the color scene she just pulled her hair back.

If you have ever experienced something that would make you black and white in an infomercial, I want to interview you. I’ll pay you for a detailed play-by-play of exactly what happened, and how such an experience was so horrifying that for a split second you wondered if you were color blind.

Honestly, I think what I hate most about these things is that they do it for a reason—obviously the target market responds to a total loss of color. I don’t get it.

I don’t get it either and I use to be so pissed to see these type of infomercials. Then something miraculous happened. I stopped watching TV! Instantly my mind seemed less cluttered and I was asking the repetitive question of “why the hell is this on TV?” continuously.

I stopped watching tv too haha. I’ll tell you what though. Whoever came up with this idea is a millionaire, and to that I give props! I love how the voice guys is like hold on there is moooore! Love it 🙂

I personally love As Seen On TV Products. But the black and white thing is a bit annoying at times. That and the overacted frustration of whatever it is the are doing when things go black and white.
